This page explains what Data Charge collects when you use this site, why it is collected, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read rather than to satisfy a lawyer.

What is collected

If you send a message through the contact form, your name, email address, optional company name, the service you selected, and your message are stored so the enquiry can be answered.

If you sign in to comment, your name, email address, profile picture, and a username you choose are stored. These come from GitHub or Google depending on which you use. No password is collected, since sign in is handled by those providers.

If you post a comment, its text is stored along with which post it belongs to and when it was written. Comments are public once approved.

A session cookie is set when you sign in, so the site knows you are signed in between pages. A preference for light or dark mode is stored in your browser. Neither is used for tracking.

What is not collected

There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third party tracking on this site. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone. No profile is built about you beyond what is described above.

Where it is stored

Data is held in a Postgres database hosted by Neon, on servers in the United States. The site itself is hosted by Vercel. Images uploaded by the site owner are stored with Amazon Web Services. Email notifications are sent through Resend.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept as long as they are useful for the conversation they started. Accounts and comments are kept until you ask for them to be removed.

Removing your information

You can delete your own comments at any time from the post they appear on. To have your account and everything attached to it removed, send a message through the contact form and it will be done.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change with it.
